Role Description:
Hensman Street Elementary is a small school with a big heart. We support some of the most vulnerable children and families in our community through a trauma-informed, multi-age model that puts every child at the centre. Sustainable funding is what makes that model possible, and as our Grants & Fundraising Board Member, you''d play a direct role in securing the resources that keep it running.
This is a hands-on opportunity to use your grant writing, fundraising or partnerships experience for a cause with real, visible impact, while collaborating with a committed group of professionals, building genuine not-for-profit board experience.
What you''ll gain:
• Real board-level governance and fundraising strategy experience, valuable for your CV or future board roles
• Mentorship and support from our Chair, Vice-Chair and Principal
• A close-up view of how a small, values-led school operates
• The chance to directly shape the resources available to a community that needs them
Duties include:
• Identify grant, philanthropic and fundraising opportunities relevant to the School
• Lead the preparation and submission of grant applications and funding requests
• Build and maintain relationships with funders, donors and community partners
• Track and report on grant and fundraising outcomes to the Board
• Full standard Board Member duties (attending meetings, contributing to strategic decisions, voting)
How to Apply:
If you are a strategic thinker with experience in grant writing, fundraising, philanthropy or partnership development, we\'d love to hear from you! Strong written communication skills, the ability to identify opportunities, build relationships and engage confidently with funders and donors will be highly valued.
Experience in grant writing, fundraising or a related field is highly desirable. Board experience is an advantage but not essential. Whether you\'re an experienced board member or looking to develop your governance skills, you\'ll be supported by a welcoming and committed Board.
To apply, please send your current CV and a short cover letter outlining your interest in the role and what you would bring to the Board. If you\'d like to find out more or explore whether the role is right for you, we\'d be delighted to hear from you at board@hensmanstreet.wa.edu.au.
