Role Description:
One in nine West Australians suffer from asthma – that’s 11% of the population and at least one West Australian dies from asthma every fortnight. So, if you have a passion for making a difference and possess skills that could benefit our board, we are keen to talk to you.
For over fifty years Asthma WA has been leading the education and empowerment of West Australians to take control of their asthma. Our aim is to have zero deaths each year.
What started as a purely volunteer organisation by our Founder Judith Barton has now grown into a professional health service that provides education to schools and one on one sessions, along with financial help to hundreds of West Australians each year.
With over 250,000 West Australians living with asthma every day our health services team work hard to reduce the risk of death by educating people to manage their asthma and know the triggers that can lead to serious attacks and hospitalisation.
We are currently seeking applications to join our board. Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
Experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the non-profit sector;
An extensive network of business people;
Demonstrated success as a non-profit board member or board chair;
Track record of building credibility in the funding community that has resulted in major gifts to a non-profit;
Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals;
Excellent written and oral communication skills coupled with a natural affinity for public speaking;
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of people living with Asthma.
