About the organisation
For over fifty years Asthma WA has been leading the education and empowerment of West Australians to take control of their asthma.
One in nine West Australians have asthma and one person dies every fortnight; however, with proper management most deaths can be prevented.
Each year, Asthma WA provides support, information and comprehensive asthma education and follow-up to over 4,000 people throughout WA. This includes people with asthma, parents and carers, in both individual and group settings. We also educate health professionals, teachers, sporting clubs and various community groups.
Skills and experience
The successful candidate will need to be a Chartered Accountant or CPA and demonstrate a mix of the following skills and experience:
- experience on a not-for-profit board with an understanding of corporate governance;
- strategic planning, critical thinking and influencing skills;
- a network of business people;
- ability to work as a team and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships.
Candidates don’t need to have all of the above, but skills and experience in these areas will help balance the Board and therefore are eagerly sought, in whatever combination they might appear. Active membership and graduates of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) will be highly regarded.
