K9 Rescue Group Inc.
President - Volunteer Role

Role Description:

The Committee of K9 Rescue Group Inc are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised individual to join the group as their President.

By sharing your time and management skills, you can assist with the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of hundreds of dogs each year.

As President your main focus will be to lead and support a group of inspiring, like-minded individuals in their roles.

As a Committee of Management, we have a deep commitment to the dogs in our care and their welfare is our first priority. We strive to educate the community about responsible dog ownership and provide a regional service to the Peel, Rockingham, Kwinana and Cockburn areas. We seek to create an environment where a dog is treated as a rightful and respected member of the community…because every dog deserves a place to call home.

The President makes certain the Rescue is running efficiently, by regularly ensuring there are available funds to operate successfully. The President must also ensure all members and volunteers are treated equally and fairly while representing the organisation. The President is responsible for focusing on the core functions of K9 Rescue Group Inc to enable it to achieve its short-term and long-term vision.

Tasks include, but are not limited to:
• Chairing meetings
• Signing official documentation on behalf of the organisation
• Ensuring all relevant information is available to the Committee
• Review and understand the organisation’s Constitution, Strategic Plan and Policies and Procedures
• Resolving disputes and grievances and overseeing activities and projects
• Representing the organisation at external meetings and events
• Ensuring that K9’s values are adhered to and maintained with current and future Committees
• Prepare a report for the Annual General Meeting and monthly reports for the Committee
• Promote the group’s purpose and service within the community
• Build and strengthen partnerships with a diverse range of business owners, patrons, supporters, state and local government
• Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship within the group and ensure open communication
• Provide support and motivation to other members of the group
• Ability to listen, communicate and seek input from others
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
• Motivating Committee members, encouraging those with key roles to take ownership of their own areas of responsibility, along with the growth and development of others
• Monitor the culture of the volunteer group to ensure we have a healthy, harmonious workplace that values and respects our people and each other
• Give confidence to our members, funders and the wider community to ensure public support

It is an exciting time to join our team!

K9 Rescue Group is currently building a new kennel block, which is due for completion in February 2023. Over the last two years we have had the support of an amazing group of individuals who have worked together to implement many changes and improvements. We have a new strategic plan, the wonderful support of the local community and an exciting new direction in the rehabilitation of dogs in our care.

Previous experience as a Board member or volunteer is not essential, however we are seeking someone with experience in management and business administration.
Our Committee members work from home at times that suit their schedule and monthly committee meetings are held remotely via video chat. We regularly stay in touch via WhatsApp, email and phone calls.
Our current team members will work alongside you to provide a hand over and will be available for questions into the future as you become comfortable with the role.
